Ian "El" Trutt
El is a nonbinary Latine screenwriter, director, and professionally produced playwright originally from Atlanta, GA. They specialize in dark comedies and social commentary brought to life with sharp dialogue.
Trutt holds an MFA in screenwriting from UGA under the mentorship of Christine Swanson (Chicago PD, All About Us) and Holly Sorensen (Step Up, Make It Or Break It). Their first cinematic project, Cam Girl, premiered in August 2023 and is streaming now. For theatre, Trutt directed their own adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel Stardust while at Emory University, where they would graduate with honors. They later assistant directed on the Berkshire Theater Festival's "The Mystery of Irma Vep" and directed a revue at the Colonial Theater. In 2015, they were a Young Playwrights Festival resident at the Horizon Theatre. Their work has been recognized by festivals like LA WEBFEST, Independent Shorts Awards, IndieX Film Fest, Houston Comedy Film Festival, New York New Stories, and Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival. |
